Austin Chinese Church Presents: World Vision’s 30-Hour Famine
For 6th to 12th graders
Fast Start Time: 9:00 AM on Friday November 14th (remember to eat breakfast!)
Group Activities: 7:30 PM on Friday November 14th held at Austin Chinese Church / 11118 Dessau Road, Austin, TX 78754
Famine Fast & Group Activities End: 3:00 PM on Saturday November 15th
There are many ways to raise awareness for hunger and ultimately stop it. Do the famine! Spread the word and share the statistics. Help local organizations to target the hungry in your area. Donate money to trusted charities like World Vision through their website and by sponsoring your friends and neighbors in the famine.
The world produces enough food to feed everyone. The only problem is that the people who need the food the most aren’t getting it. About 29,000 children die every single day from hunger, that is one child every three seconds. 500 million of the world’s people are considered to be in “absolute poverty”. The cost of the one missile is enough to feed a school of hungry children every day for five years. What the U.S. military spends in two days is enough to prevent one million deaths. One fourth of the world lives under $1 a day. 183 million children are underweight. What are you going to do about it?
Join us in the international youth movement to fight hunger! Don’t miss out on 30 hours of fun, games, prayer, praise and community service. The fast begins at 9:00 AM on November 14th and ends at 3:00 PM on November 15th. Group activities start at 7:30 PM on Friday November 14th and ends at 3:00 PM on Saturday November 15th (same time as breaking the fast). The group activities will be held at Austin Chinese Church located at 11118 Dessau Road, Austin, TX 78754. Participants do not need to sleep over but if they choose to stay overnight, they will need to bring a change of clothes, toiletries, a sleeping bag and a pillow. Remember your Bibles! There will be a meal at the end to break the fast. All participants must have a waiver form, which can be obtained by emailing josh[at]acclighthouse.org for a waiver form. Raising money is not required, but definitely encouraged. All proceeds go to World Vision to help feed children and stop world hunger.
